Main winds of the lake Garda are:
Peler (or Sover): it is characteristic constant wind of the Lake Garda, coming from from North and interesting nearly all the lake, above all the high and the central Garda. It blows from the first hours of the night until approximately noon and it is strengthened after rising of the sun because of the increase of the temperature.
Ora: from the Latin aura that is “breath”, is a valley breeze, coming from the Po plain that blows from South, after the fall of the Peler until the late afternoon. It interests in meaningful way above all the central and the high part of the Lake Garda.
Ponal: it is a typically summery wind and has strong intensity. It blows from the valley of Ledro in the morning and evening hours.
Bali or Balinot or also Spisoca: it is a typically winter wind coming from North, originated from a strong lowering of the temperature.
Ander: it is a constant wind coming from South-West that blows in the early afternoon.
Vinesa: it is a constant wind coming from East South-East and it blows from the veronese side towards the brescian one. It can be much dangerous because of its power.
Boaren or Boarno: it is a breeze coming from land, from Vobarno (from which the name) in Val Sabbia. It blows from the morning to the evening.
